Leaves, moss and other large debris will be held back by the large grill. A deflector above the small grill prevents smaller debris from entering the outlet. Occasional checking & emptying of the unit is all the maintenance required for total peace of mind.

You have the choice of fitting a black or white
DRAINSMART.
These typical and common problems could have
been prevented if a DRAINSMART had been fitted.
Ignoring hidden blockages will nearly always
result in costly damage and subsequent repairs.
Picture 1 shows a downpipe cracked and broken
due to silt blockage and subsequent freezing.
Picture 2 shows a downpipe cut off at ground level
which is blocked by silt and debris.
The DRAINSMART will catch the debris at ground
level where it can be emptied.
Mesh balloons (picture opposite) usually cause more blockages than they prevent. When using a DRAINSMART, remove the balloon.
1. Fitting a DRAINSMART (download instructions) to existing downpipes:
It is simple to fit a DRAINSMART to existing downpipe systems of ALL TYPES!
A DRAINSMART will fit all UK domestic downpipe sizes, both new and obsolete. (up to 68mm dia). Connecting is just a matter of cutting the pipe at ground level and fitting the DRAINSMART!
2. Fitting replacement downpipes:
When replacing modern or obsolete rainwater systems with new, it can be difficult to connect new downpipes to old, especially if they are into a hard surface area, ie: concrete, tarmac or paviors. DRAINSMART will fit any of the downpipes shown opposite and many others in minutes using the ‘O’ rings supplied without the need for any disturbance.
Simply cut old downpipe flush with ground level & fit a DRAINSMART.

connector manfactured by ‘Terrain’ to be the best.
